As the very least there could have been commas. Of course, it does make "pet" stand out more as an adjective and not as the potential verb it is here... So... I really don't know what to say. Maybe he was really into pet play with his wife and she felt the need to tell the world?
Those words are descriptions of the deceased. What happened was the son pet dad, and it made the coach happy for some reason.
