Reflections

Our first tombstone features rainbows. Or comets. Or a failed design from a 1980s tennis shoe*.

Our next exhibit features church windows, which look a bit phallic to me. Maybe I just need to get my head out of the gutter. Or maybe you all should join me.

I also enjoy the "Not our will but thine be done" inscription. It oozes contempt and bitterness while at the same time sounding very respectful and trusting. Brilliant.

*I loved my Roos! Anyone?

  2. "Not our will but thine be done"
is a paraphrase from scripture, the original "Not my will, but thine be done" was spoken by Jesus on the cross when he was basically being a petulent teenager and bitching to dad about having to mow the lawn, but doing so in a "Well... I guess I *have* to" kind of way.

It's probably seen as very pious, but I think your interpretation is more accurate.
