Here's to Punkin' #1 - you're not alone.

  1. I've just gone through this entire blog (as you do) after reading about it on fabulous Cake Wrecks. (Not to say that this blog isn't fabulous too, but you know...it's Cake Wrecks.)

Anyway, have you noticed that the average age at death of those featured in this blog is way below the US national average? Dying young is bad enough, but getting a bad tombstone on top of it...

  2. I just found your fab blog, too. I am big on gravestones and my sister is a fanatic obituary collector. Looking at these stones -- tell me, are you in Texas? Texans seem to have no qualms about putting their insane nicknames on their final scoreboards.

  3. Did anyone notice the 2 stones with Punkin on them were born in the same year?

  4. Heh. I actually design memorials (tombstones) for a living. So, general FYI - typically anything in parenthesis is a maiden name - but since this doesn't look like a maiden name, cause it seems to be someone's young father, I am rather stumped. I suppose it could be a nick-name, but those are generally in quotation marks.

Then again, this is an old hand-cut design. Most were back in the 70s. The workmanship is just pretty terrible, though :(

  5. Why yes, derrydown, I am in Texas. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go put on some boots and mosey down the street yelling "yee HAW!" at total strangers. Y'all.
