I just don't understand why this is such a common tombstone epitaph. Everyone knows if you're 6 feet under, you're most definitely dead. There's no point in denying it! Not to mention the creepy zombie implications it has, lol. THe first one is kinda sweet, but the second "he is not dead" borders on angry denial, as if you would dare to question it. The third one is just so casual about it! "Ah, don't worry, he's just asleep."
Fanboy wife -- "I want to go for a walk now!" (smirk)
Actually, now I"m humming the old Beatles song: "Please don't wake me; no, don't shake me./ Leave me where I am; I'm only sleeping." Somehow, I don't think this is what they had in mind.
Tomb wrecks are real tombstones that make us laugh. No photoshop work is done here (except to cover the names of the victims). We know death can be a touchy subject, and no disrespect is intended. We view this as the lighter side of the other side. While we welcome your photo submissions, we absolutely do not condone trespassing or damaging grave markers. Don't wreck a potential wreck! :o)

ReplyDeleteCan I have, "I'm getting better," as my epitaph?

It makes me think of Monty Python's Dead Parrot: He's not dead, he's resting! ... Oh look at that, you've gone and killed him.
ReplyDeleteI'm getting "She's pining for the fjords!" on mine. Or maybe "Not quite centered."
ReplyDeleteI used to see "fell asleep in the arms of Jesus" quite a lot. Always kinda weirded me out when I was a kid.
