    I'm usually a grammar nazi, but I'm not sure about who/whom either. This is going to drive me nuts.

  3. The English teacher will explain:
    The correct relative pronoun in this sentence is "who" because it is the subject of the subordinate clause (an adjective clause, if you really want to know) "who check their work," and a subject is in the nominative (who), not the objective (whom), case.
